RELIGION & WEAKNESS
Since the beginning of human history we have accounts
of numerous debates on religion. The religion got its birth from many factors,
the first one be the society. As the man learned to live in groups it developed
a society in which large groups were added, groups as in tribes with varying
thoughts. I won’t say culture because culture is far from what we are talking
about. The new breed of man, social man was now developing a sense of
responsibility and this sense of responsibility was the stage where he learnt
about his weak side. Man learnt that though he is powerful enough to kill
animals alone to feed him-self but in a society when he is with others, it is
difficult for him to reveal is strong, cruel side. He saw his tender side
towards others in the society and thus began to develop a fear. Fear of losing
those who were in his group. So you see societies were the source of man’s
fear, man’s weakness.
But he knew he is strong, but was confused to see his
weak side, mainly because he was too busy maintaining his social side. Thus he
began developing the ‘pretentious’ nature of his existence in order to get rid
of that confusion. He did one more mistake of neglecting the true understanding
of all the developments he was undergoing, he rather baffled with sudden
changes which he himself brought upon himself developed a ‘blame- game’. Though
Known but still unknown to him, the cause of these changes, he brought up an
idea of a mysterious force working upon him. He started thinking: ‘ I was so
mighty earlier, no animal nothing could stand before me but why am I weak now,
why do I feel weakness within my society, with my loved one’s? ‘ Already
surprised by the natural phenomenon of lightening and sudden appearance and
disappearance of sun & moon, he believed somewhere in the distant sky,
something not visible to him was controlling him.
I must say that this was no new idea of a mysterious
being or force in distant sky but a reflection of his weakness which man had
already developed inside. This weakness made him feel safe under the hood of
that invisible mysterious force. You see man has always been fascinated with
what he can’t grasp easily!! So unable to grasp the changes his weakness made
him develop such a concept of a mysterious force and with the development of
language, it started calling that force a GOD.
His fears reached their heights when he began
allegorizing that invisible being. One may ask why he needed to allegorize that
force, well, thanks to the language or communication that compelled him to do
so. Not only this, the dominant nature of man was a basic instinct so how could
he leave that force unexplained? And since he respected that god, who could
control him so easily, he was left with no choice but give that god a shape
just like a man. Because man was the next strong being after god on the face of
the earth. And so we have gods as we know them today.
He didn’t stopped here, for societies were developing
fast and he needed to control them. Why? Because fear and weakness had already
entered and had taken various forms of hatred, jealousy, selfishness etc; and
these were causing problems and giving birth to what we now know as CRIME.
Since man had no fear of man anymore so the only solution left was to take
refuge under the god. Ironically, man once again showcased his weakness that
had been amplified by now. The language and communication was already
developing so the smarter minds gathered their lost strength and developed
theories, doctrines, philosophies, ways to help fellow men understand their
weakness under the God.
Since man was separated from each other geologically,
this helped developing various languages and RELIGIONS. Well, culture was/is
nothing but the usual way or the conduct of these societies being separated
geologically. This very well explains why or how almost all the religions of
the world teach the same thing of LOVE, PEACE, HARMONY obviously in a different
language, because this is what man needed to control itself being destroyed by
self-created fear and weakness.
This theory is very well in accordance with
cause-effect principle because what all man is facing right now or has faced in
past is nothing but an EFFECT whose cause is man himself but the habit of
living under the fear, he has made himself so weak that he now blames, the very
religion which he developed for his convenience, for all the misery he is in.
Religion can’t be due to emergence of societies alone,
the strong desire to understand the nature but failing to make correct
inferences from his researches and driven by the weakness which is now an
integral part of his DNA, he mixed it all. We all know that majority religions
especially Hinduism is the most scientific one, it not only tried to control
man and his societies but also elucidated some scientific ones, but in a more
poetic, metaphorical and conceited manner. It depends solely on the follower
for the interpretation. The Vedas and Upanishads were a more brave approach
towards understanding the man’s existence. They tried not to flow with the
evolution which was happening but go deeper. They showed how man developed his
fears and is now nothing but a slave due to his own ignorance. They ask him to
wake up and rise above his Self-created weaknesses. They ask him to search his
true self which is he himself and not some GOD which he seeks through his five
senses in the external world. They tell him that once he realizes his true
self, he is the god himself because the external god was a reflection of his
inner and had come out to save him from his ignorance, to tell him that see
though we are stronger than you yet a reflection of your infinite self.
For a long time we have been slaves to our
self-created ignorance, nature is not ignorance or illusion it exists in us and
only our endeavor to rise above it will help us go through it. The external
world is a reflection of the better one inside. Do not be-fooled man. Wake up
to the call of ‘ thou art that’ ( You are that ).
