HAPPINESS

I am taught from the beginning of my life that in order to be ‘happy’ and to always carry a smile on my as well as my loved one’s faces I have to fight with nature, I have to work hard, I have to do this & that. The world is not as it seems, its cruel, you have to strive for your happiness and so on. And so the fuel is has been added to the tank and the engine get started!!
I am now working day & night hard, for whole of my life why? Because I have to live happy. I have to struggle why? Because I have to live happy and keep smiling. No one loves to be sad! And why to? When you can be happy by working hard..
The early man hunted to eat and it got bliss from eating food, so he invented various ways to GET that bliss again & again. He got bliss from studying nature, so he is striving continuously for that bliss by science.

We all know that the world we see is based on cause- effect principle where the Effect is the contemporary world as we know it and the Cause is nothing but one word: BLISS (or happiness or smile)
The bliss we tend to feel from the happiness, from the smile on our loved one’s faces is the prime driving force and source of our existence. We are continuously striving for more, not in terms of finances or the knowledge but ‘more happiness’, ‘more bliss’.
The bliss we are talking about here is what we express in words or actions as ‘smile/ happiness’.
This is common for everybody I guess.
But does anyone know what really happiness is? What is a smile?
No. I guess!!

This is because we are looking at the EFFECT, not the CAUSE. We are missing the point here that the bliss we are seeking is felt from inside. The bliss or ‘anand’ you get from a smile is something to be felt from inside, then how can you get it from the outer world?

We know the world is limited in every sense (space-time, gravity etc.) but still we seek the infinite bliss in this world. Irony isn’t it? Oh.. well.. irony or the foolishness? An example to illustrate this: I eat a chocolate and I am happy with its taste, there is a constant smile on my face. but that smile and happiness exists so long as the chocolate! As soon as I have eaten it all, I am a little sad and thinking, ‘once more!!’ so I grab one more, my smile and happiness returns, the chocolate is again finished and I am again back to ‘once more’ stage!
This ‘once more’ stage is the mother of competitiveness, jealousy, hatred etc and this is from where your sadness begins.

The point to be noted from this example is that the smile or happiness I was seeking from the chocolate was LIMITED. It solely depended on the existence of the chocolate, as soon as chocolate was gone my smile was gone. I am not saying that smile was an illusion. How can that be possible when you had a first-hand experience of that smile. You experienced that smile or happiness from the chocolate because you were seeking it in it. Similarly you seek that smile and happiness, bliss in other things too. But fail to understand the short life of that bliss.

In heart of hearts you know that smile, that happiness, that bliss is something which is never ending, and infinite. I always long for something which is unlimited, this is basic human nature, whatever he sees in the world he see it as infinite but soon he finds out its limited nature and so begins our quest for that infinite. We wanted to rule kingdoms, infinite. We wanted wealth, infinite, we want to live, forever, We wanted happiness, infinite. This proves that the bliss we seek has to be infinite, otherwise we were not seeking it.
We feel that infinite, obviously I can’t see the infinite because my eyes have limited sense of vision. But feeling has no bondage. What I seek out is right inside me, it’s my lack of knowledge or my self-created illusion that infinite is external to me.. no.. it is inside me, and if it is inside me then it is me. Infinite is nothing but me. dare to see your true self  than be weak and limited and run like dogs after small chunks of that happiness which is nothing but a part of your true-self.
Rise above your illusions, do not blame anyone but yourself. Accept the responsibility and see your real side.
