A TED TALK WITH YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM

Blues, Monday blues!
And who doesn't get chills at the thought of waking up early on a Monday morning and get ready for yet another week's hustle? Well, I certainly do!

No, this blog is not going to be about how to cope your Monday Blues, instead, I am going to discuss with you about health and more specifically your Mental Health.
Mental Health is not some new age discipline coming out of those psychology classes, its roots lie very well inside your Biology,ie;  The Nervous System. Our physical body is a collection of various processes that quintessentially keep it running even without our awareness. But one of those key processes constitutes our Nervous System which is made up of countless neurons, nerve cells, a fleshy puddle called the brain and a mighty spinal chord.
I personally like to call my spinal chord as the thunderbolt of Zeus. Sparkling right?

You see our nervous system is totally a bio-electromagnetic phenomenon that keeps on shooting electric currents with sudden spikes and voltages. Don't sweat yet, this is not a tutorial on electricity!
In my spiritual quest to understand the body and its functions, I have come to realize that the art of analogy can greatly help to decode inner workings of our mind. Thus, I like to call thoughts as continuous streams of electric current, sudden inspirations as spikes while mental abilities as different voltage potentials stacked within the Nervous System. And not to forget that nerves are definitely the biological wires, mediums or carriers of this bio-electric energy within the body.

If you have been following me well so far, then the road ahead is smooth.

The moment you feel paranoid or stressed, it means you are experiencing a sudden disruption or misalignment in your Nervous electric current. Feeling calm and sorted? Congratulations, your battery is well charged with streams of current well aligned. Feeling creative with sudden bursts of inspiration means your streams are well tuned with full of energy to lighten up a bulb. Yes, that common phrase of the mind being illumined is real and that's exactly how it happens.

Okay, so I have understood what's happening inside the fleshy puddle but what has that got to do with my health?
Virtually everything!

If your wires are not getting the amount of current they are designed for then they will perform one of these two actions- contract/ expand. When they contract or get smaller in size, that is definitely not a good sign because it will lead to a constant feeling of irritation, depression and in the long run, you may develop certain mental disorders as well. If they expand being hungry for more current then they will eventually end up inflamed, which happens to be the root cause of stress and of course the Monday Blues!
Shrinking or swelling in size abnormally is never a good sign for health because you often tend to ignore these mental signs of irritation, stress and mild depression. These will eventually lead you to look for relief via food, drinks or anything that might seem to alleviate your mental discomfort. Thus begins the vicious circle of physical diseases. That is why your Mental health has a direct impact on your physical health. Never Ever Ignore It!

What's the solution?
Breathe and become aware!

Yes, it is as simple as that. When you breathe, you let your nervous system know that you care and are aware of the issues that are happening. Learn to listen to your body without doubting your sanity. This will surely be one of the best things you can do for your health and holistic well-being. Your nervous system will guide you what's needed to be done, what must eat, drink or what kind of exercises you need to do and at the same time you will find it very easier to go off the addictions as your mind will begin to adjust itself in its natural rhytm!
